There are no update photos for this week as unfortunately the camera was left at work. The rebuilding of the dividing wall has been completed with the cupboard back in situ. This week has been more difficult as work started on the bathroom and the render is very hard to remove but underneath has not been built with good materials, the wall has been added at a later date and is full of small stones and broken tiles so has taken a lot of cement to strengthen it. Where the water filter was removed began to fall down too and had to be repaired. Decisions need to be made about what kind of roof this room will have and this hasn’t been budgeted for within the original plan for the first two rooms.
In general the project is behind a week or two, we had hoped that the roof would be on towards the end of March but the materials have not yet been ordered and the roofer estimates a few weeks before it will be built and in place. Jenny and Norm cannot decide on the material for the top of the roof, normally the roofs here are concrete, which is poured on direct from the lorry via a funnel, it is thought that originally this building would have had terracotta roof tiles on this section and it would be good to take it back to it’s original condition but very few houses have roofs like this so it is difficult to find the tiles and experienced roofers to fit them. The new alternative is to use ash felt which is light weight but doesn’t leave a smooth surface like the cement.
