What an exciting week, work actually started on the camel sheds, Jeronimo, Milko and Barbara (the stone team) are now working on our house. During the week the team stormed ahead and have completed the walls on our en-suite bathroom, this is at the top end of the house connected to Jenny & Norm’s house. First they had to repair and strengthen the walls, correct the height for the roof, put foundations in for the block wall to divide the space for Lucy’s bedroom and knock through a wall to put a door way in. We were really surprised at how quick it all changed.
At the weekend we got the kids involved, Lucy had to pick some render off her walls whilst Josh and his mate Shane were busy digging out his bedroom – unfortunately the roof had fallen in and a dividing wall collapsed so there is a lot of earth and big stones to move as well as separate the cement waste. Work also started on our bedroom with Milko clearing the dressing room (which was a pile of stones) and after much debate about where the walls and corners should go the footings were dug out.
We had some difficulties in the week with the water pump not working, this had to be tested and replaced with a new improved version, and time was wasted trying to rig up a connection from the pump to a hosepipe which was a gap of 25mm to 13mm.
We also took Allan our electrician up mid week as the team were working so fast we had to decide on the electricity network, plugs and lights quickly so they could be incorporated into the walls and not channelled in later. Mike is getting very high tech with air conditioning units, computer network and home entertainment centre etc.
