We missed our deadline of being in the house before Christmas, although the main building work was completed we still had weeks of tiling and painting to finish. We didn’t have electric, although the wiring was all in and tested we couldn’t officially be switched on until the paperwork was complete with the Ayuntamiento and Cabildo. Jeronimo built us the largest aljibe you have ever seen, what started out as a 2 week project turned into a 6 week saga and Mike said global warming will never be an issue in Haria as long as our aljibe is full! After begging and pleading with Gustavo to come and fit the beautiful doors he had made there was some progress. The weather was cold and wet at the weekends when we were trying to paint the many coats needed before we moved in, it must have looked quite comical with us wearing coats and bobble hats whilst painting to try and keep warm. We also discovered a water pipe in the garden whilst digging the electrical trenches, which was very amusing considering we had been having tanker deliveries for the aljibe for the past year.
